Project context
"Customers weren't reluctant to spend more — they were reluctant to feel like they were being sold to. Reframing the same outcome as a reward changed everything."
Overview
Troya sells modular wall beds that require customers to configure multiple compatible products, including cabinets, mattresses, sofas, and assembly services. While the product flexibility creates value, it also introduces complexity. Customers often struggled to identify compatible products, understand optional services, and confidently complete their purchase online.
Rather than treating the shopping cart as the final checkout step, this project reimagined it as a guided purchasing experience that actively supports customer decision-making throughout the buying journey.
What I redesigned
Designed a rule-based recommendation system that automatically suggests compatible cabinets, sofas, mattresses, and accessories based on the selected wall bed.
Replaced simple "Yes / No" optional selections with informative modal experiences for mattresses and assembly services, providing specifications, descriptions, pricing, customer reviews, and service details before customers make a decision.
Introduced a sticky purchase bar that keeps pricing and the Add to Cart action visible while customers browse detailed product information.
Designed personalised recommendations for empty cart states, encouraging customers to continue exploring products instead of reaching a dead end.
Improved product bundling opportunities by surfacing relevant complementary products throughout the purchasing journey.
